Hermione's Guide to the Average Teenage Life

Encore, Encore!

So while I have been writing about all sorts of interesting things, I believe it is time to recount some of my more recent experiences; that's what a blog is for anyway for crying out loud! And my life isn't as boring as it sounds. I promise.

Anyway, this past week I have been going to a piano camp, and let me tell you, it is wonderful! I'm a pretty mediocre pianist, so when I walked in the first day and heard everyone else practicing who-knows-what, I was pretty darn nervous. But I really have learned a ton, and my fellow campers are definetly not the snooty 'I'm better than you' type. What struck me the most, however, wasn't about piano. Yes, this is going to be really cheesy, but just hear me out! I think that everyone is really really really good at something. Yes, even you. Even if you think you are just average, you really should take up a cooking or calligraphy class and find you're hidden talent. Or maybe it's just staring you straight in the face and you're just too darn blind to see it. But whatever the case may be, I pretty much summed up my speculations for life concerning talent in two basic points; follow both and you will impress even yourself...

1) Find your talent. You may even have more than one. Because of course, everyone is good at all sorts of things. But single out one, or maybe two, and really focus on it/them. Fine tune your talent, and become an amazing cook, or trapeze artist, or pianist.

2) But at the same time, you have to balance the old with the new. Try new things, be bold, be daring! You may be surprised to learn that you have a real knack for flower pressing!

So, I'm definetly not a school counsler or anything, and I'm trying to figure this whole teenage thing out too, as I'm sure most of my readers are. I could be disasterously wrong on some of my points, but hey, a little speculation doesn't hurt. We're all blundering through the same mess of hormones. So don't penalize me if my advice sucks, but I think it's important to communicate. And what better way to navigate the teenage years than to write a guide that tells you excactly how to do it?

Last, I would like to post a couple shout-outs... to my awesome fellow piano-campers:

K- I never knew one could listen, draw, talk, speculate, and observe at the same time. N- who completes our trio, which grew even beyond the notes on the page. S- pure genius. C-"Hey, who turned off the lights?". A- never open doors unless you know for sure that they are practice rooms! T- our names rock, and E- your duet with T is awesome, really. M and E- more geniuses, who also rock an awesome duet. M and M- the first time I heard you guys play, my jaw dropped! Z- you definetly have the coolest name ever. Do you mind if I use it in a future book? I promise not to kill the character! And last but not least, to our awesome counslers I and M, who's duet is ridiculous. In a good way.

Congrats guys, you are online! That's like being famous!

Okay, well considering I have to get up at eight for our last day *sniff* I better get to bed...

Signing off,
